What This Move Means for You
If you’ve been a patient of Dr. Grimsley’s, you may have heard he’s joined UF Health Orthopaedics. We know a change like this raises real questions — so here’s what you actually need to know, and what (if anything) you need to do.
The short version: Dr. Grimsley is still your doctor. His approach to your care hasn’t changed. What’s changed is the resources behind him — UF Health’s academic affiliation, UF Health Flagler Hospital’s Gold Seal-certified joint replacement program, and a broader network of specialists if you ever need one. Your Medical Records
Your records from Dr. Grimsley’s prior practice don’t automatically transfer to UF Health — but we’re here to make that as painless as possible. You can request your transfer by calling OrthoEdge staff directly at 904-204-5000, or by asking UF Health staff to submit the request on your behalf — either way, you’ll just need to sign a simple authorization form. Most electronic transfers are completed within a few business days to about two weeks, though providers are legally allowed up to 30 days to fulfill a request. If you have an upcoming appointment, we recommend requesting your transfer as early as possible so everything’s in place when you arrive.
Your Existing Referral
To see Dr. Grimsley at his UF Health offices, a new referral will need to be sought from your primary care provider. If you’re not sure where things stand with your specific appointment or referral, the easiest path is simply to call us.
Your Insurance
Insurance networks can differ between practices, so it’s worth double-checking that your plan is accepted at UF Health before your next visit. If you have questions about your specific coverage, our Financial Advocates are glad to help — you don’t have to figure this out alone.
If You’d Rather Stay Closer to Home
We understand that a change in practice location isn’t the right fit for everyone — whether it’s distance, a preference to stay with a private practice, or simply what’s most convenient for you. If that’s the case, Dr. Grimsley is happy to refer you to another skilled surgeon from OrthoEdge, or within the North Florida Surgeons network, who continues to practice in Jacksonville. Just let us know, and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of either way.
