Accessibility Statement

Dr. Richard Grimsley, MD and UF Health Orthopaedics are committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, screen magnification, or voice control.

Many of our patients are living with joint pain, limited mobility, or reduced dexterity. Accessibility is not a compliance exercise for this practice — it is the same audience we treat.

Our conformance target

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We consider the site partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and a full independent review is scheduled before launch. We will update this statement when that review is complete.

What we have built in

No accessibility overlay. This site uses no accessibility widget, toolbar, or automatic remediation script. Accessibility is built into the page itself.
Keyboard access. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
A skip link. The first thing a keyboard user reaches on any page is a link that jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
Readable text. Body text is never smaller than 16 pixels, is set with generous line spacing, and can be enlarged with your browser's zoom without breaking the layout or cutting off content.
Strong contrast. Body text is set well above the minimum contrast required by WCAG, not merely at it.
Large touch targets. Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels with space around them.
Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, all animation on this site is turned off.
Structure that reads correctly. Pages use real headings, lists, landmarks, and labelled form fields, so screen readers announce them properly.
It works without JavaScript. Expandable sections use native browser controls, and the full text of every page is present whether or not scripts run.

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about where the site falls short:

Pages we link to but do not control. Insurance, billing, and medical-record links go to UF Health systems. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of those pages, and we will help you with anything you cannot complete there.
Video. Video content on this site is being reviewed for captions and transcripts. If a video you need is not captioned, contact us and we will get you the information another way.
Documents we send you. If we send you a document and it does not work with your screen reader or is hard to read, tell us and we will provide it in a format that works, or go through it with you by phone.

If something on this site does not work for you

Tell us. We will fix it, and in the meantime we will get you the information or the appointment by another route — no patient should lose access to care because of a web page.

Call us at 888-481-2135 and tell us the page you were on and what went wrong. Whoever answers will take the details and pass them to the person who can fix it — you do not need to know anything technical, and you do not need to report it in any particular way.

How this site is assessed

This site is evaluated with a combination of automated testing, manual keyboard testing, and review against the WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria. Accessibility is checked when pages are built, not only before launch.
